Opening Fall 2025 – Terry P. Bradley Educational Center

Clovis Unified School District held a groundbreaking ceremony this fall to mark the official start of construction of the Terry P. Bradley Educational Center that will be home to Clovis South High School and a yet-to-be-named intermediate school.

Located in the southeast corner of the district at the Highland and Clinton avenues alignment, the educational center will ease current overcrowding at schools in that area and provide space for expected future student enrollment growth in the district. The Bradley Center will have some unique features among Clovis Unified schools, like putting its main support resources in one shared building – administration, nursing, library –that will serve both schools. It will also have the district’s first sunken football field and gymnasium.

“This is an exciting time in Clovis Unified as we mark the beginning of an entirely new school area anchored by this center,” said Associate Superintendent Stephanie Hanks, Ed.D, who was named earlier this year as the new area’s superintendent.

School attendance boundaries have yet to be developed, and public meetings and discussions on those will begin in late January. (See cusd.com for updates.)

TIMELINE
The Bradley Center is scheduled to begin a phased opening for grades 7-9 in the fall of 2025, with one new grade level added each year until completed. The phased opening ensures first-year Clovis South students will all begin as freshmen and not be coming from another high school, and together they will develop the new school’s traditions and culture.

ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES
Attendance boundaries have not been decided. An executive committee of approximately 50 Clovis Unified employees and administrators from multiple departments is meeting this winter to research enrollment trends across the entire district and at the individual school level, consider development plans of the cities of Fresno and Clovis, and create possible maps. These will become available for public review in early 2024 when several community meetings will be held for feedback, input and suggestions; there will also be information available online along with a comment form. Community input will be used to develop revised maps and ultimately a recommendation to be considered by the CUSD Governing Board in April 2024. For more information, click here.

SCHOOL NAMES, COLORS, MASCOTS
The CUSD Governing Board approved naming what will be the district’s sixth comprehensive high school Clovis South High School earlier this year. The recommendation to use “Clovis” in the name was seen as a way to create association to Clovis Unified School District as this portion of the district is located in the city of Fresno. Decisions on name recommendations for the intermediate school on the Bradley Center as well as the new area’s mascot and colors will be made in early 2024. Watch for updates on cusd.com.
