Troubleshooting Guide for AAAL Laptop Teachers

Window 7 Released

Windows 7 was released for sale on October 22, 2009.  There are multiple versions available. However, Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate are the only two versions we will allow in the
AAAL/CUSD program at this time.

  • We strongly recommend you keep your laptop’s current configuration and operating system for the school year since it is working on our network.
  • If you choose to install Windows 7 Profession or Windows 7 Ultimate and it breaks the ability to get on CUSD’s network and/or CUSD software is no longer installed, there will be a $50 service charge to re-configure the laptop.

***For Lenovo laptops purchased through LaptopsSchool.com the only supported operating system is the one installed from the factory.

About AAAL

The vision of the Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone Learning with Laptops program (AAAL) in the Clovis Unified School District is to have any student in grades seven through twelve using a computer anytime they need to and anywhere they are.  The AAAL program is available at all District intermediate schools.

The program is a partnership with parents, the school district, Laptopschools.com and Lenovo to provide greater access to technology for students. We learned that when students have access to a laptop computer anytime and anywhere, powerful changes begin to occur in students’ schoolwork, and in their learning.

The mainstay of the AAAL program is what is known as a laptop immersion class, where every student uses their own laptop every day. However, the schools also work hard to maximize the availability of the program using a variety of strategies. Some schools rotate classroom sets of computers to different classrooms for the students to use. Another strategy being used is the "in-class loaner" program, where District-owned laptops are kept in selected classrooms for the year. Students use these in-class loaners during the school day, and rely on their own computers at home.
