Benefits Overview

Clovis Unified School District offers a self-insured benefits package with a composite rate structure for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverages. Employees have the option to either enroll in the entire benefits package or waive the coverage altogether. Employees may not enroll in one plan without enrolling in all & may not waive one plan without waiving all.

Payroll deductions for monthly premiums are taken from paychecks received in the months of September through June, with no premium deductions occuring in the summer months of July & August.

Premium rates are based on three separate tier structures:

  • Employer contributions are shown on an employee’s monthly paycheck and reflects the amount the District contributes to cover the employee’s benefits.   • The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) gives covered employees and their dependents who lose their health benefits the right to choose to continue benefits provided by the District for limited periods of time under certain circumstances such as voluntary or involuntary job loss, death, divorce, age limits and other life events.
