CUSD Health Center FAQs

  • Some services will need to be referred out to a more specialized provider such as:

    • Chiropractics
    • Dental and/or vision services
    • Mammograms
    • X-rays
    • Advanced imaging
    • Most obstetrics services
    • Orthopedics
    • Cardiac services
    • Mental health and/or substance abuse issues

    In these cases, the miCare providers will assist the patient by finding the best option for them in the Blue Shield network & providing a referral to allow the patient to receive the advanced level of care they require by utilizing the CUSD Health Plan.

  • Treatment at the CUSD Health Center by miCare is limited to those covered by the Clovis Unified Health Plan:

    • Employees who meet the employment terms that qualify them to participate in the District’s health plan
    • Dependents who are actively covered by a qualifying employee or retiree
    • Retirees who meet eligibility requirements & are currently covered by the District’s health plan
    • COBRA members who are actively enrolled in COBRA benefits & are up-to-date on monthly premiums
  • Patients not covered under the CUSD plan may not use the Health Center. The Health Center is operated as part of the CUSD health benefits plan, and costs associated with the Health Center are paid by the District’s self-insured fund, which includes the premiums paid by eligible employees & retirees. The Health Center does not operate a billing department & is therefore not able to accept patients outside the Clovis Unified health plan.

  • There will be no limits to the number of visits to the Health Center.

  • We ask for a 24-hour notice for all cancellations. We allow for one missed appointment before issuing a reminder letter.

  • The Health Center is not a walk-in facility. Because of this, all patients treated at the facility have scheduled appointments that allow miCare staff to predict appropriate staffing levels to stay on schedule while also blocking off several appointment times each day for same-day sick visits.

    For same day visit request, member should call the Health Center directly to request open times.

  • The Health Center provides primary care services to children over the age of 2-years-old. We recommend all services for vaccinations & well-child visits be seen by a pediatrician.

    We hope to staff the center with Family-practice physicians.

  • Yes – patients are able to view which provider is scheduled for the day & book their appointments based on what provider they are most comfortable with.

  • Primary care services are available through the Health Center. However, you may keep your primary doctor & use the Center as needed.

  • The Health Center will release and/or request your medical information upon your request & completion of a signed release form.

  • Recuro Telemedical Doctor, who provides consults for our members, offers prescriptions for a wide range of conditions. This includes but is not limited to drug classes such as antibiotics and antihistamines. Short-term prescriptions for maintenance medicines may also be obtained in cases where a member is in transition to a new doctor and/or traveling.

    It is important to note that Recuro is not a drug fulfillment warehouse. In the event a doctor does prescribe medication, he/she will limit the supply based on state regulations.

    Recuro doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic, and/or certain other drugs. This includes but is not limited to antidepressant drugs. Non-therapeutic drugs are not prescribed.

  • miCare provides an acute pre-packaged medication dispensing system in which their onsite clinicians dispense the top 50+ most frequently prescribed medications as allowed by California state law. Please note that miCare does not dispense controlled substances.

    In addition, miCare has an integrated ePrescribing application within their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for electronic data entry of prescriptions & reported medications. The prescription entered by the clinician is electronically linked to the CUSD CVS Rx program, and the prescription is then sent electronically to the pharmacy or mail-order programs where the prescription is filled.

  • Patients are able to view which provider is scheduled for the day & book their appointments based on what provider they are most comfortable with.

  • Referrals are made to specialists on the Blue Shield network for services that cannot be treated at the Health Center.

  • miCare adheres to California state standards of accreditation & licensing. miCare has a high standard of care & takes time to select the right Board-certified providers.

  • miCare Health Centers operate in a paperless environment & maintain all patient records in an electronic format that is fully compliant with the data & security requirements of HIPAA & California state laws. miCare has the necessary controls, policies, and procedures in place to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information systems containing employee personal health information (EPHI).

    CUSD will not have access to any employee medical file or information.
